Great-looking and well-functioning, but fairly expensive part with some terrible design flaws. The shift side broke down three times in one year due to poor design. I wonder who thought it was a good idea to rely on a one-sided bolt for the shifter. After the third 'incident', I asked the dealer to "customize it" by drilling the shifter lever and using a standard two-sided bolt instead. It left me stranded on the highway multiple times already. Don’t buy it unless it’s absolutely necessary. It will drive you mad pretty quickly, and, as usual, HD will do nothing about it. Left me stranded on the highway multiple times already. Loose
Much better foot position but at a huge cost. The shifter itself is junk a very loose setup. Sloppy shifts due to the the craftsmanship of this product. Just not made properly. Save your money look at other options. This thing is driving me nuts I’ll be modifying it to try and make it a solid shifter. Otherwise it will be coming off. read more.

    • That really sucks. You're right, they should be wearing a mask and holding a gun to your head to charge that much for the conversion. It should be criminal ! Anybody got a better option ?

These are great on my sport glide I used genuine take off parts for the brake side and this kit for the shift side saved me from removing the primary covers

    HD design flaw

The shift side mid control does move your feet back into a more aggressive riding position and feels great. However, I have had two parts fail. The pivot pin on the actual shift lever is pressed into the lever. The 1st time I parked the bike in dirt that was a little too soft and it ended up falling over in high winds and it broke the pin off. Thought, my bad - may fault. I ordered another one, and within 800 miles, it happened again. Only this time while I was out riding. Normal riding conditions, about 20 miles from home, the shift lever just fell off. The pin worked itself out of the shift lever. Luckily I was on back roads and not the freeway. Found a rock and pounded it back in. Enough to get home. Poor design by HD. I "fixed" it by drilling out the head of the shifter and inserting a 1/2" chrome plated bolt through with a nylon lock nut. Used plenty of red loc-tite to secure. Seems to work fine now. Kind of crappy though that I spent the money twice only to fabricate my own fix. Hope HD reads this and address this issue. read more.

    • Did Harley offer to replace the shift lever because the same thing just happened to me and it left me stranded on the side of the road?
