I have a 2019 iron 1200 and being 6’0 tall this is the most comfortable position I’ve found having mini ape hangers!

Mixed Results Installed on 2015 Sportster Iron 883 First off, with the good: 1. Great location. With the stock controls, my right heel was resting on the ShortShots pipe. Now, it's in a perfect location. 2. Footpegs feel and look great. 3. Glad new fasteners are provided. Not so good: 1. As some mentioned, the new shifter makes shifting awkward. Either too low to even stick the toe under, or, just one spline up, too high to just lift the foot to step on it - now I have to lift the entire leg to downshift. I will live with it, but annoying. Not sure how this can be remedied, but sure hope HD would come up with a solution. 2. Why is the rear brake rod bare metal? The whole kit is black, but this is not? I vinyl wrapped it, looks so much better (but for 500 bucks, we shouldn't have to mod this) 3. No instructions/torque values are provided for the install. The procedure in the service manual is literally backwards from what you need to do. Take note: assemble the entire right side assembly on the bench! Then insert the brake rod into the cylinder assembly on the bike and secure the bracket. Otherwise you will not be able to access some places to install hardware (such the retaining ring, etc.) at all. 4. I feel like a new shifter peg to match new footpegs (a flat one with the HD logo) should be part of the kit. Again, serves the purpose, but could use some engineering refinements/greater adjustment flexibility for a wider variety of riders. read more.

Upshifts Difficult With Kit's Shifter Arm
Featured H-D Dealership H-D Employee Sweepstakes Entry Verified Purchaser Top 10 Contributor Top 25 Contributor Top 50 Contributor Top 100 Contributor Top 250 Contributor
First off, let me say that the placement of these controls (not mid, not forward) is perfect and the included floorboards feel fantastic. The kit was incredibly easy to install. I had to remove the front muffler on my Iron 1200 but 2 bolts and it came right off. The only issue I've encountered is with upshifting with the new longer/curved shift arm. To be functional at all, it must be installed in one particular position on the shaft. The issue is that with my foot in any position on the board, the only way to upshift is to lift my entire foot off the board vs. just swinging my toes upward. Makes upshifting very awkward. Moving the lever just one spline position forward closes the gap to the point where it's impossible to slip my toes between it and the boards. The only way to resolve this is to either get shoes with a much higher toe area, a much larger diameter shift peg (which I have yet to find) or possibly adjusting the lever lower and swapping the new boards with the stock pegs. read more.

i have a 2004 XL 883 and was wondering why they are not compatible, di the mounting system change that much?
    fiend138 - illinois
    • Answer:
The brake linkage end from this doesn't fit with the older brake cylinders. You can however make your own brake linkage to make it fit. Do some googlefu and you should come across it.
