After reading everything I could on the 135” I figured “why not”. The dealer was great. Now I have owned more Harleys than I can count. Bought my first Harley Springer in my twenties, and modified each one since! Now at seventy I am over trying to mix and match I wanted the best of the best, now I have it. This engine is a whole new world to acceleration, and at any gear. Pulling out of a corner twisting the throttle, feels like top gun! Even the feel of the power at idle is visceral. Like most everything I own having the BEST of the BEST is a feeling that is difficult to describe until you actually do, I am sure you know what I mean. So thanks to HD! read more.

    The 135 is a beast!

I put 20,000 miles on my '23 Road Glide ST in about 4 months and then replaced the 117 with the blacked-out 135 crate engine a couple of weeks ago. Wow! What a difference. I've put about 3,500 miles on it so far and I can honestly say this engine is amazing! It sounds like a beast with a deep rumble while idling, and it screams at full throttle as I'm passing. It's definitely a head-turner. Better yet, it has incredible acceleration from a stop AND at highway speeds. When I want to move quickly, this engine gives me the power that I need. I also had the 10 Screaming Eagle plates and 1275N springs installed in the clutch to get instant power to the back wheel without slippage. By the way, the 135 is loud on my bike, partly due to the TAB Performance 50 Cal mufflers with Zombie baffles, so if you prefer to be a little more stealthy, a quieter muffler may be a better option for you. Personally, I like a loud bike, so other drivers know where I am, which helps keep me safe. This has actually caused multiple drivers to stop merging into my lane and pull back into their own lane when they hear me approaching. Sometimes it looks like Moses is parting the sea of cars for me :) Bottom line: This engine gets two thumbs up from me. Highly recommended! read more.

    • I'm guessing your gas mileage went WAY down, right? I know that with these engines, gas mileage efficiency is usually not a concern. But for long road trips (Sturgis, Daytona, etc.) gas mileage is a planning factor.

    • Wish there was a video of your bike… I have the 22’ SG ST with Tab’s 2-2 headers and 50 cal zombie baffles also with 22k miles…. Waiting to put a little more miles on her, next year I’ll do the 135…. Ride safe brother.

I had the Screamin Eagle 135 engine installed in my 23 Street Glide ST. The power gain is immediately noticed. Throttle reponse is instant at any RPM. Harley Davidson have outdone themselves with this upgrade. If you can afford it. It is well worth it. Cowboy down there at Raging Bull Harley is man!

Won't I need a new clutch set up and not just springs?
    snook - Cincinnati
    • Answer:
I'd recommend speaking with your local Harley-Davidson dealership about the Crate Engine upgrade. There are various factors that go into play here, i.e. age/usage of the current clutch plates. They'll be able to provide insights and recommendations to your specific motorcycle.
