Poorly designed kit. Hollow bolts are easy to break during installation, and flex under the weight of a passenger leaning on the sissy bar. If bolts are over-inserted, and don't immediately break, they will break the threaded bung off of the fender backing plate because some weld material overhangs the hole where the bolt passes through. I never have problems with HD made accessories, but this one needs to go back to the drawing board. I've gone through two sets of these (both of which, upon failure, left me with turn signals/brake lights dangling) and am now removing the entire OEM assembly in favor of LED under the fender lighting (aftermarket). read more.

    • I had the same problem and mine broke as well! Poorly designed and not what I expected at this price. I fabricated my own set up and not only does it look better, it is also stronger!

Disappointed in lack of detail on instructions
I wish I knew this stupid kit was necessary to have a normal sissy bar on a FXDWG. My God man, Wide Glides are inspired by choppers which traditionally have sissy bars higher than 4 inches. It requires soldering, electrical know how to successfully do this. I suppose I am too dumb to figure it out and too afraid to screw it up so my kit just sits in my garage until I can find a video watching someone else install this thing or pony up the $300 to $400 in labor costs for some mechanic to do it. If HD is going to build bikes that pretty much require mods, I would appreciate if it was simple enough and the instruction detailed enough for a simple person like me to do it. I have install many extras on my bike that require turning a screwdriver or ratchet but this is a pain. Buyer's remorse for sure. read more.

    Perfect fit
I needed this part to install the sissy bar on my fxdb. It was a simple install but I didn't splice the wires like instructions say to. I also needed the license plate relocation kit that comes with new wires that you install thru turn signal socket

    Poor quality.
I was greatly dissatisfied with the poor quality of the parts in this kit. I find the design to be less than satisfactory as well. Parts are not made large enough to fit the wiring which frays easily. One of the bolts provided in this kit also broke before I could tighten it. If you don't tighten it properly the tailights will vibrate loose. Very poor craftsmanship and design here. If you buy this kit be prepared for a frustrating experience and be very careful as the parts are extremely delicate. I will look to go aftermarket for my next modification. read more.
    • Broke this bolt while trying to hand tighten the thing before I even touched it with a wrench.

    • Mine did the same thing, broke in nearly the same place. Awful design! Harley claims to be a premium bike but crap like this proves otherwise.

    • Wish I never installed this kit. I've had propblem with the front and rear rear relocation kit bolts breaking. I said the heck with buying the bolts again and used metal JB Weld epoxy. Though it's a permanent solution it's stronger and holds better now.

    • Answer:
Sage, You can use lighting of your choice as long as it fits your bike and it's Non-LED. LED will not work with this directional kit. Thanks!
