    Design fail

Patience will be required. If I would have know what I was getting myself into I probably would not have bought this part. Another example of Harley designing a part that in and off itself is great as it is a great location for extra lights on the Road Glide. But apparently the people at Harley that come up with such ideas have never had a wrench in their hand in the whole life. The firs epic design fail is the template provided that gives a location for a pilot hole, why would one not design the template such that it can be connected to the turn signal mounting bracket on the inside of the fairing? How hard can it be to put an extra hole through the template when it is manufactured? If he template were connected one wouldn't have to have 4 arms and hands to do a good job drilling the pilot hole. The second epic design fail on the template is that it only has the location of the pilot hole. Again, how hard would it be to add some slots that one can use to mark the size of the actual hole onto the masking tape applied to the fairing before drilling? Using the gasket as the template for the actual hole size is really cumbersome and unnecessary. And the third design fail is on the part itself. Due to the additional weight the mount has to have an extra connection to the center part of the fairing. To bridge the gap the part has a stand off. The problem is that one has to align a long bolt through the lower frame mounted fairing support finding the screw hole and of course at that point the outer fairing is going back on and one cannot see where the hole may be or the slot of the lower fairing support. So splitting the standoff into two parts, one that gets screwed into the core part of the fairing through the slot of the lower fairing support before the fairing goes on and has a flange to form a cup to catch the standoff from the chrome part would eliminate that problem. The the bold hole would be visible and alignment would be pretty easy. Simple things would make this part so much easier to assemble. Harley should really start sending their part designers to the shop and assemble the stuff they design then maybe such epic design fails would not go out into the world. read more.

Purchased this mount kit to make myself more visible to the cage drivers and brighten up my nights. The construction is solid, the instructions as well. Just follow up what it says and it will work. Don't reinvent the wheel. I could have found another kit but decided to go with the HD brand because they tend to last longer. I did NOT use the little lights but a little larger than the factory ones and the results are still good. No complains. Already put about 800 miles on it and only time will tell how durable they are. Took pictures while doing the install and considering to add a instruction vid because could not find one on line. read more.

Roadglide fog light mount on fairing

The piece was as expected great and directions were accurate in detail. The only thing that could have made this better was if it would have been designed to conceal the fog light wires.

Hi Miguel, No, the fog lamps cannot be placed underneath the turn signal. This is an U.S. violation that you may want to avoid. Hope this helps!

2015 Road Glide Special without Switch
    Dahulk - Anchorage, AK
    • Answer:
See instructions step 15. Though the P&A says no additional harness is necessary, apparently, a "Fog lamp Switch" (they don't reveal the part number) IS needed to turn them on at the dash somewhere. Obviously I have the same problem!
