Add the "blacked-out" look of the Nightster motorcycle to your Sportster® model. The perforated "Buckshot" design visually lightens the belt guard and adds a raw, purposeful edge to the bike's profile.

Less than 5,000 miles on my 2020 iron and this rear bracket snapped off, reading the reviews it seems to be a bad design. Should have used a thicker steel.

    Broken Gaurd
I only have 4200 miles on my 2018 Sportster and the bracket broke at the rear bolt also. Sounds like a design issue to me if there are this many breaking!! I welded and repainted the bracket.

    • How is your welded bracket holding up after a year? I'm thinking about welding my broken guard as well and probably add a piece of thicker material for strength

My bike is a 2016, bought in 2017. The other day, this thing broke at the rear bolt. Just cracked in half. My bike is garage kept both at home and work, with only 8k miles on it. Now I have to replace it...sad.

This is a perfect match with the buckshot lower belt guard. It definitely adds to the sporty or performance look of the bike on an otherwise neutral styling look.

    Will Eventually Break
I am on my third guard since I got my 48 in 2013. I have 20k on my bike. It is a poor design. It will break off near the rear bolt mount eventually. I custom welded one that broke, to be twice as thick, and it has been fine ever since. I believe HD knows about this flaw because the belt guard rear support arm on the new Sportsters is wider now. Should have been a recall in my opinion. For what its worth, I have not had any other issues with my bike other than normal wear and tear. read more.

    • I have a 2016 48, currently at 8500 miles. I also am now on my third belt guard (that's why I am here shopping)  The first one they replaced under warranty, I had to wait for months for the replacement, as they were backordered.  No other issues other that this.

What is the difference from the stock belt guard for XL883? looks like the same holes.

What is the bolt diameter/length for both of the mounting tabs?
    Allie - Boston, MA
    • Answer:
Good afternoon Anonymous, The bolt would be a replacement with the same stock ones. The holes are respectively .570" diameter in the rear and the front one is .380" diameter. The stock bolts appear to be used for installation. I hope this helps answer your question.

Looking for the version without holes. Do you have that??
    Tanzbobanz - Wellington, NZ
    • Answer:
Hello Tanzbobanz, Some of the Sportsters had black upper belt guards with out holes stock, not knowing specifically what model you have I wont be able to provide fitment. You may have to visit your local dealer as the only one offered online is the buckshot. Thank you, wildonemke
