If function is what you crave, this seat has it. I can ride all day with this seat as advertised. It does sit you a little bit higher and a little bit further back. If you're having trouble reaching your controls, this isn't the seat for you.

Sundowner great addition to Sportster Forty-Eight

My lightly used 2014 Forty-Eight Sportster was a downsize from a Road King by a 70 year old long time rider who only rides a 100 miles at a time anymore. For creature comfort - I added a HD windshield and a set of HD air shocks. For the final touch, I bought a Harley Sundowner seat. All I can say is that really makes the ride even greater. Gives you a real comfortable seat of the pants feel and makes bumps much more bearable. Long rides are no problem, no leg or butt fatigue, like sitting in an easy chair. My only issue was previous owner had installed an aftermarket seat and removed to seat stud that the “keyhole” in the bottom of the seat engages. Without it the seat is too loose. I made a new seat stud using a 5/16” carriage head bolt 1” long. The keyhole takes some pushing down on the seat to slide back and engage the bolt head but holds the seat tightly against the frame. All is good now. From a visual standpoint the Sundowner on the Forty-Eight appears a little “chunky” but who cares, I can’t see it when I am out enjoying the ride. read more.

    • I forgot to mention, I went with a Harley 3.3 gallon tank. The stock peanut tank looks great but I needed enough to go out without refueling along the way, even though I rarely go more than 100 miles. Gap at tank 1-1/4” looks OK for me.

Seat is much more comfortable than stock. Only downside is the gap between seat and tank with the 3.3 gal tank.

This Sundowner solo seat is very comfortable and also looks good on my bike. And gives you the feeling of security while you are riding.

    80 miles later…

Bought an Iron 883. Rode it on a 100 mile loop. 40 miles in, I was counting down every mile. The stack seat is horrible. Bought the Sundowner. Put it on the bike and intended to ride just a couple of miles just to see how it felt. 80 miles later, still felt good. Best upgrade you can do to a Sportster.
